QTW 70 - Playing Movies under Windows 95 (01-Nov-95)

Q My movies don't play as well under Windows 95 as they did under Windows 3.1. I'm using QuickTime for Windows 2.0.3. What can I do to improve performance?

A The Windows 95 release CD contains a special QuickTime component called MSVHDW95.QTC. It can make a significant difference in the playback of QuickTime movies under Windows 95, especially for video cards that are not QuickTime optimized.

Note that this file is not automatically installed when a user upgrades or installs Windows 95. It is located in the directory \Other\QTWFix. There is a readme file that explains how to install the MSVHDW95.QTC file.

This file is not included with the floppy disk version of Windows 95. It can be downloaded, however, along with instructions, from the Apple FTP site at ftp://ftp.info.apple.com/ts/quicktime/QTWFIX.ZIP.
